I received the following rather impressive email today on my institute mailbox. On googling a bit about "Lambert Academic Publishing", I discovered that it's actually an academic spam. See this for more information: http://chrisnf.blogspot.com/
So be careful and don't pay heed to such imposters.

What's the diff bet'n a paper and a thesis, may I ask?

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever tried to define these terms before. But let me make an honest attempt here.
A research paper reports a scientific/technological finding in say 6-10 pages in a conference or peer-reviewed journal. A thesis is what a student submits at the end of his research degree (M.Sc or PhD) putting together all the findings and results of his research over years in detail - that can easily run into hundreds of pages.
Interesting to know that spam covers a wide range of subjects. In a way, it is fun to read spam emails for thier fanciful motivation which advisor doesn't give -- luckydraw, treasure of 100 million USDs, now a publication, wow!
