Amidst the gloom of the sickening bomb blasts, devastating floods, communal violence, and crashing markets, there were certain happenings over the week gone by, that brought cheer to the cringing souls of India. Here's a snapshot of today's "In the news" section on the home page of wikipedia. The noteworthy points are encircled in red.
- The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched Chandrayaan-1, an unmanned lunar exploration mission.
- India's Sachin Tendulkar becomes the leading scorer in Test cricket and the first to pass 12,000 Test runs.
- Indian writer Aravind Adiga wins the Man Booker Prize for his debut novel, The White Tiger.
Most of you knew about it. Yet I thought it does feel good to count the blessings. A billion thanks to ISRO, Sachin Tendulkar, and Arvind Adiga.
