The 5-0 tale

Of late, the Indian cricket team has been thoroughly clinical in its performances and delighfully flamboyant in its approach. After the Aussies, it's now the Englishmen facing the heat. They are 5-0 down and are now confronting a very realistic whitewash. India is the new Australia. Here's a toast to the champions who've made us proud.

Sehwag biffs sixes
Sachin's all class
Gambhir packs a punch
Yuvraj's having a ball

Ishant makes 'em hop
Zaheer jams the yorkers
Bhajji weaves a web
Dhoni walks on water

That's been the tale
Watch out, Aussies and Proteans
India have been ruthless
England have been toothless

Some other day…

I wish I could write a poem
I am not gifted enough
Words don’t easily come
I realize, it’s gonna be tough

I think of possible themes
None would seem to fit
Don’t have a brain it seems
Frustration creeps in a bit

It’s a pity oh dear
I come to know of me
Not the one with a poet’s flair
It isn’t my cup of tea

I’m about to give up
It’s about time to shut up
Yet with steely resolve I say
“May be, some other day”
