Team IISc at IIMB ground after beating the hosts [2nd January, 2010]2nd January, 2010, IIM-Bangalore: Team IISc have always been ruthless when it comes to winning a tournament opener. They were at it once again at the small yet pretty and lush green ground of IIMB. Playing their first match of the IIMB Invitational Cricket Tournament 2010, IISc thrashed IIMB Hawks by 7 wickets. The victory was comprehensive enough to warrant a bonus point in addition to the four points for the win.
In an utterly one-sided affair, IIMB Hawks batted first and lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for a paltry 69, playing out only 19 of their allotted 25 overs. In reply, the visitors rode on Ashith's breezy knock of 44 to finish off the game with 13 overs to spare.
A sterner test awaits team IISc as they host BNMIT on Sunday. Playing back-to-back matches is always tough. But something tells me it's going to be a close game on the morrow. Winning it should virtually seal a place in the semifinals for IISc.
